Our basic activities are recultivation and land planting,  first of all, of rigid soil in Kostolac region, arose by the operation of energetic capacities of thermo power station and excavation sites. Thanking to out efforts, large terrain areas are included again in natural cycle and become wood planted or suitable for agriculture.

Besides this our constant activities are to maintain already existing green area and their protection from fire, maintaining and decorating interior and exterior botanic interiors, production of nursery and decorative and parks wood nursery, as well as healthy food production.

 

Recultivation is divided in two parts. Technical part means to level areas on waste disposals sites and that is by tailings planning and deposit humus-accumulative layer, just by making waste disposals immediately suitable for modern agriculture manufacture and use of agriculture machinery. The other part of recultivation is agro biological, with a task to prepare tailings for biorecultivation to residue into fertile soil capable for agriculture production

Recultivation is a slow process, connected to tailing material disposal, technical capacities and successive biological recultivation which advance by the pace dictated by nature.

In future they can be economical active areas, that is make profit and pay off for its closure. 

Main task of RIO is to do this process through researches of the most modern methods of biological engineering and selection of material to recultivate and humanize ashes terrain.

 

Change tailings – soil of bad quality – into soil suitable for agriculture use.

To sow culture or do it directly on waste disposal, then add different types of humus, hydro gel  and others to maintain it. The area where yield is the best should continue with the same methods.

Sow alfalfa, oilseed turnip, and vine with excellent results.

Sowing

Land planting consists of right timing and area planned sowing of adequate tree types and lower overgrowth. RIO is technically equipped and experience ready for exceptional requiring land planting processes. In its specialized trees and bushes nursery RIO grows 19 tree types and 8 decorative types of bushes. At a given moment nursery disposes with over 6.000 of seedlings completely ready for seasonal planting. Land planting covers agriculture culture sowing as well as, growing of wood nursery.

An area of ​​10 hectares of planted forests is a young poplar (Populus euamericana).

Protection wood trees belt is built on slopes in total area of 54 ha. Mixed woods of locust trees and Siberian elms are planted in total area of 14 ha. Biological recultivation makes a grass cover. It takes two phases and lasts 5 years.
